My Skincare Routine

11:00

A recurring question I'm asked is about my skin and how I take care of it. To be completely honest, I don't think my skin or skin care routine is very good as I still suffer from acne and scarring. Also, I don't use many products. But, since so many of you have asked, I've decided to share my daily routine with you all.

Please note that this post is not sponsored. Everything I featured in this post are products I bought myself. Almost all my posts are not sponsored; if they are, I will always mention it at the beginning of the post.

Before I share my skin care products, I think it's important to point out that I make an effort to drink a lot of water throughout the day. Drinking water helps keep you hydrated as well as rid your body and skin of toxins. I noticed that ever since I started drinking more water, my skin is much more healthier. I understand that drinking water throughout the day can be a challenge, but I highly recommend you guys try to make an effort to do so. If you don't like the taste of water, try adding some fruits to it; or if you're a soda drinker, try carbonated water. There are so many options out there so you guys really don't have an excuse! The results of drinking water may surprise you, so there's no harm in making the effort.

Besides water, I also need to manage my stress as majority of my acne stems from it. Taking out some time to clear my mind and relax is crucial. I already have an entire post dedicated to how I de-stress; you can find that post here

Moving onto my skin regimen; I'm going to walk you through what I generally do from morning to night on a daily basis.

First thing in the morning, after brushing my teeth, I wash my face using warm water and a damp face cloth. I do this to get rid of any oil and product buildup from the night before. Most people tend to use some sort of face wash in the morning, however I'm still on the market for a morning cleanser. If you have any recommendations on one, please let me know!

After washing my face, I pat dry my face with a clean towel and apply a moisturiser. From a young age, I've been told to use vitamin E products for my skin as it will do "wonders" for my skin. Essentially, vitamin E helps with making your skin looking more radiant and youthful-looking. I guess out of habit and sticking to what I know, I tend to use vitamin E products everyday. Currently, I am using this vitamin E cream I actually bought at a drugstore; this specific brand isn't bad! The moisturiser itself helps me maintain a dewy glow that lasts throughout the day.

Depending on what I'm doing, I either do or do not put on makeup. For those who want to know what makeup products I use daily, you can find a post all about it here. Other than makeup, I usually just go on with my day and make sure to drink water throughout the day.

If it was a day I wore makeup, at the end of the day when I get back home, the first thing I do is grab some makeup removing wipes and take off all my makeup. Throughout the day, I tend to get very oily and my makeup starts to feel very cakey, so being able to take it all off after a long day is such an awesome feeling. After removing my makeup, I jump into the shower where I can further remove any excess makeup the wipes might have missed.

After taking a nice shower, I use Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub. This scrub helps cleanse and exfoliate my skin, stripping away all the dead skin cells on my face. The scrub itself has improved my skin in terms of smoothness, however I haven't seen much change in terms of battling my acne.

Also, I use Origins charcoal face mask after the cleansing scrub once a week. The mask helps with fading my acne scars and brightens my skin. I have done a separate post all about my opinion on this mask; those who are interested can find it here.

After washing my face and the mask off (for the days I use it), I pat dry my face with a clean towel. Afterwards, I use Clinique's Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel to spot treat any problem areas I might have. I've just recently started to use this product and so far I'm very impressed. It gets rid of any breakouts I may have and prevents new ones from happening. The only downsides are that the product has a very strong alcohol smell and is very drying. It is also on the pricier side too, however a little bit of this product goes a long way. I think it's best for you guys to try a sample of this product before committing to the full size so that you can determine whether you like it or not.

When I'm done spot treating my face, I go straight to moisturising! I'm trying out a lot of drugstore products as of late to see if I find products I like and are of good quality. One of the products I'm using is Olay's Classic Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid Lotion. I lather it onto my face and neck right before going to bed. I'm pretty satisfied with this product as the next day, it leaves my skin very soft and smooth.

For those days where I want to de-stress, instead of using a lotion, I use a sheet mask. I'm absolutely in love with these face masks from The Face Shop as they're very inexpensive and an amazing job at hydrating my skin. I highly recommend that you try a sheet mask at least once in your life as it's a very pleasurable experience.

And that's it! That's all I do for my skin. I know that I can definitely do more, but I'm still exploring products that are effective for my skin-type. If you have any products that you're obsessed with or that you think I should give a try, please let me know! Other than that, I will see you all next Saturday with a new post. Until then, I hope you have a great week!
