As of lately, I have been wearing a lot of dresses, specifically jersey dresses. If you don't know already, right now in Vancouver it is winter and it's COLD. As the weather is cold, I have to layer up on what I wear when wearing dresses. Some people may look at me as if I'm crazy and say that I shouldn't be wearing dresses in the winter, but honestly speaking I really like the way I can dress down dresses and layer on trench coats. So at the end of the day I still wear dresses, even if it's pouring rain and cold outside; if I wear the right things, being cold is no longer an issue.
For this specific outfit, I wore it to class one day and a friend jokingly said I looked like a detective. I found this pretty funny and actually liked the concept, that is why I gave this OOTD such an odd name.
I've said this so many times before, but I love hats. For this outfit, I decided to match it with my black fedora from Forever 21. This fedora was actually a gift from a good friend so I cannot say a lot about pricing. However, I can talk about the hat itself. This specific hat was an "one-size-fits-all" hat. As someone with a smaller head, this fedora doesn't perfectly fit on my head; when it's windy outside or if I for some reason have to run, this fedora easily flies off. Besides the size, I would still say this is a great hat as it's brim isn't too big.
My biggest obsession as of lately have been jersey style dresses and slips. This body-fitting dress is from Forever 21 and I believe I bought it for just $25. I was surprised to see that the fabric of this dress was thick, meaning I wouldn't have to worry about wearing a slip underneath it. It has is a slit on the left-side of the dress which adds a little drama to this simple black dress. Overall, I would consider this a new staple in my closet as I can easily dress it up and down.
I don't leave my house without my Chelsea boots. Ever since I laid my eyes on this style of boots I've been in love. For the longest time I have been on the hunt for the perfect chunky-heeled boots and although these boots are not that chunky, I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I actually bought these boots a year ago from a store called Browns. I do have Chelsea boots from other designers and stores, but this specific pair is very comfortable with it's two-inch heel and the faux fur lining in the inside that keeps my feet warm!
Ever since I bought this camel coat I have literally worn it with everything! This specific coat is from Forever 21, but you can also find this coat at Topshop and Zara. I don't know the pricing of this coat as it was another gift I received. I have always been a big fan of camel coats as I think it instantly makes anything look a lot more stylish. This coat ends around my mid calf and fits loosely, which for is a plus for me as it balances out the body-fitting dress in this outfit.
There aren't many pieces to this outfit as I wanted to keep it simple. If it is a little too simple for your taste, I recommend pairing this outfit with gold jewelry; maybe stay away from statement necklace though as it may be a little too much paired with the hat. I usually like to wear my glasses as I obviously need to see where I'm going, but it also makes me feel a little more "Tumblr-ish" (lol).
